Foundation History

As our founder of Rotary quoted; “Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.”
Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships.
Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world. Our foundation is a part of a fairly new club that was chartered back in July of 2022 and the Rotary In The Harbor Charitable Foundation, Inc. was certified in July 2024.
With being such a young club, the opportunities to define us and who we are span across our community. We have made great strides in the first few months to broadcast who we are and that we are here to serve.

Our mission
The Rotary In The Harbor Charitable Foundation Inc. has a deep commitment to making the world a better place through its seven pillars covering various impactful initiatives. It’s clear that even small contributions can create meaningful change.
Here’s a few facts that highlight how easy it is to make an impact:
- 60 cents: Protects a child from polio.
- $50: Provides clean water, helping to prevent waterborne illnesses.
- $500: Funds an anti-bullying campaign, fostering safer environments for children.
These examples demonstrate that every donation, no matter the size, contributes to advancing global health, education, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation, aligning perfectly with your mission of promoting understanding, goodwill, and peace.
